Teaching and Learning Framework

Current Update

The revised NT Curriculum Framework (NTCF) is expected to be in schools during 2008.

The Teaching & Learning Framework is expected to be used by schools starting 2009.

The Special Pedagogies and Teaching & Learning Framework projects continue to be integrated to further develop content and structure of the Teaching & Learning Framework. Five focus groups are in progress and have embedded Statements of Learning in the NTCF. These focus groups are working with Professor John Pegg from University of New England to ensure developmental continuity of standards, required learning, and outcomes. Margaret Forster, ACER, has been contracted to provide advice on the development of Performance Standards.

Eleven Action Learning projects continue to be implemented in nine school sites using elements of the draft Teaching and Learning Framework. Teaching and Learning Educators have initiatied site based professional learning models across the Territory.

Overview

The aim of the project is to provide more support for teachers by defining the essential features of good teaching and learning practice for the Northern Territory Curriculum Framework (NTCF), as well as the South Australian Curriculum Statements.

The Framework will provide examples of best practice and an online self or peer reflection tool that links to the current NT Standards of Professional Practice and the performance enhancement process.
