Investing in Students and Learning

$42 Million Plan for Territory Schools

Schools in the Territory must be equipped to meet the changing needs of students in the 21st century.

Every student in the Territory should have access to the widest choice of subjects and pathways so that they have every chance to succeed.

The Territory Government is making a major investment in our secondary students to improve their learning worth $15.37 million over four years.

Key initiatives include

  • providing qualified counsellors and careers advisers to all secondary schools... more

  • more funding for Vocational Education and Training (VET) to expand subject choice and provide important skills... more

  • putting more focus on 11 to 14 year olds to engage them more closely in education through a ‘middle years’ approach which will better prepare them for their later years of education... more

  • more support for teachers in providing good teaching and learning through the development of a Teaching and Learning Framework... more

  • enhancing VET and enterprise education programs in schools... more

  • expanding the curriculum, particularly to increase senior students’ access to VET... more

  • providing assistance to schools to record students’ learning needs, their progress and achievements... more
